Heat Detector (Conventional)
A conventional heat detector for spaces where smoke detectors aren't practical — kitchens, garages, boiler rooms — combining a fixed temperature trip with rate-of-rise sensing so it responds to both slow heat build-up and fast fires.
- Fixed temperature rating: 57°C (135°F)
- Rate-of-rise detection: responds to >15°F/min increase
- Compatible with all conventional fire alarm control panels
- Unpolarized wire input for simpler installation
- Two LEDs, 360° visibility, insect-resistant screening
- UL FM Listed
Product Overview
The HST Conventional Heat Detector combines two detection methods in one device: a fixed temperature trip at 57°C (135°F), and rate-of-rise sensing that responds whenever the temperature climbs faster than 15°F per minute. That combination catches both a slow-building heat source and a fast-developing fire, without the false alarms smoke detectors can trigger in kitchens, garages, or dusty plant rooms.
It wires into any conventional fire alarm control panel with unpolarized input, so there's no risk of wiring it backwards on site. Two LEDs give 360° visibility of the detector's status — flashing every 5 seconds in standby, faster during pre-alarm, and latching solid once in alarm. The detector can only be reset by a momentary power interruption from the panel. Insect-resistant screening keeps false triggers from debris and pests to a minimum.
Where it's used
- Kitchens and food preparation areas
- Garages, workshops and boiler rooms
- Dusty or steamy plant/mechanical rooms
- Any space prone to smoke-detector false alarms

Key Features
Dual Detection Method
Fixed 57°C trip plus rate-of-rise sensing catches slow and fast heat events.
Fewer False Alarms
Heat-based sensing avoids nuisance trips from steam, cooking fumes or dust.
Foolproof Wiring
Unpolarized input means it can't be wired backwards on installation.
360° Status LEDs
Visible from any angle — flashing standby, fast pre-alarm, solid on alarm.
Tamper-Locked Base
Twist-on mounting with a lock deters accidental or unauthorized removal.
Universal Panel Fit
Works with any conventional fire alarm control panel, no protocol matching needed.
