Addressable Smoke Detector
An intelligent, addressable optical smoke detector for Kidde loop-controlled fire alarm systems. Dual optical wavelengths and multi-angle sensing tell real smoke apart from nuisance particulates, cutting false alarms without slowing real ones.
- Multi-criteria optical sensing — dual wavelength, multi-angle detection
- Up to 250 intelligent addresses per loop
- Drift compensation & automatic device mapping
- UL 268 7th Edition & EN 54-7 listed
- Compatible with standard, relay, isolator & audible bases
Product Overview
The Kidde KI-OSD is an intelligent, addressable optical smoke detector built for Kidde's Intelligent Loop controller-based fire alarm systems. It uses patented multi-criteria optical sensing — dual optical wavelengths combined with multiple detection angles — to tell real smoke apart from nuisance particulates like cooking fumes and dust.
Analog data from the sensing chamber is digitized and processed on-board, with digital filtering and ratio algorithms removing nuisance signal patterns before an alarm decision is made. Continuous self-diagnostics, non-volatile memory and environmental compensation — including automatic day/night sensitivity adjustment — keep the detector accurate over years of service with less manual maintenance.
Where it's used
- Commercial buildings and office fit-outs
- Hotels, hospitals and educational facilities
- Corridors, stairwells and open-plan areas
- Retail malls and mixed-use developments

Key Features
Multi-Criteria Sensing
Dual optical wavelengths and multi-angle detection cut nuisance alarms.
Drift Compensation
Automatically adjusts sensitivity for dust build-up, extending service life.
Automatic Device Mapping
The loop controller learns each detector's location and flags if it moves.
Day/Night Sensitivity
Adjusts automatically based on time of day for more relevant alarm thresholds.
Self-Diagnostics
Runs continuous self-checks and logs results to non-volatile memory.
Flexible Base Options
Works with standard, relay, isolator or sounder bases for the install you need.
